The 2020 Chevy Malibu offers a smooth ride and great fuel economy. It runs on a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine that gets up to an EPA-estimated 29 MPG city and 36 MPG highway. The Ford Fusion also has an efficient 1.5L 4-cylinder engine, but its fuel economy isn’t as impressive. It can only get up to an EPA-estimated 23 MPG city and 34 MPG highway.

The Chevy can also deliver a more exciting drive. The available 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine can deliver up to 250 horsepower. Plus, it works with a versatile 9-speed automatic transmission. The Ford falls a bit short with its 2.0L 4-cylinder engine. It gets up to 245 horsepower but gets paired with a 6-speed automatic.

Infotainment System

The Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system comes standard in every Chevy Malibu. It features an 8-inch touchscreen in the dashboard and lots of smartphone compatibility. For example, you can make hands-free calls and stream music with Bluetooth®. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are also included, so you can connect your phone’s apps too. Plus, with standard voice recognition, you can control everything without taking your eyes off the road.

The Ford Fusion also comes with voice control and a Bluetooth® compatible infotainment system. However, the standard system is on a tiny 4.2-inch LCD screen. Features like a touchscreen, Apple CarPlay®, and Android Auto™ aren’t available on every trim level.

Safety Features

The Chevy Malibu also offers technology that can keep you safe. Driver-assistance features can help prevent accidents by giving your more awareness while you drive. Some of the technology that’s available includes:

• Rear Cross Traffic Alert
• Adaptive Cruise Control

The Chevy Malibu can keep you safe during an accident too. It features 10 airbags, including seat-mounted side-impact airbags in both rows and head-curtain airbags.

You’ll even feel more comfortable parking. A standard Rear Vision Camera gives you more visibility when you’re backing in or out of a parking spot. You can also add an Automatic Parking Assist feature that can help you park your car.

The Ford Fusion offers many of the same driver assistance features. Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer anything that can size up a spot and help you park your car. Plus, it only comes with eight airbags.
