2021 Chevy Traverse: What's New?

This model year, the Chevy Traverse got a major upgrade to its safety packages. Instead of a Driver Confidence II package, the Traverse packages its safety features into an integrated suite called Chevy Safety Assist. This allows the systems to work together seamlessly as a second set of eyes—a co-pilot to keep you safe.

The Traverse has only one engine in the lineup: a 310-horsepower, 266-lb-ft, 3.6-liter V6 engine mated with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is available as an option on every trim level but the base L.

Trim Levels and Technology

The 2021 Chevy Traverse has seven trim levels from which to choose, offering a wide range of choices to tailor your vehicle to your needs. The base trim is the L, with the LS granting access to all-wheel drive and a number of options packages. Next up is the LT available in either cloth or leather trim, with the leather level offering even more features.

The RS trim level builds on the LT Leather plus a couple of options packages, and the Premier gives you extra comfort and safety features. Finally, the High Country is the top-of-the-line Traverse with full luxury features, trailer enhancements, and extra safety, convenience, and comfort features.

The core of the technology is the Chevy MyLink infotainment system, driven by a 7- or 8-inch touchscreen. It offers everything from satellite radio to smartphone integration, telematics, GPS navigation, and more. Comfort technology includes electronic adjusting heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, and power accessories.

Safety Technology

Safety technology is combined into the Chevy Safety Assist package, an add-on suite that you can build on as you climb in trim levels. It includes all the expected features, from front crash warning and emergency braking to lane keeping, a 360-degree parking camera, a digital rearview mirror, and other features that combine to keep you alert and safe as you go your way.

Towing and Storage

Behind the back seats, you'll get 23 cubic feet of storage, more than many competitors offer, with a full available 98.2 cubic feet when you fold down the rear seats.

When properly equipped with the towing package, the Traverse is capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds of trailer weight, a very respectable number for its segment.
