The Children’s Miracle Network of Beaumont Children’s Hospital targets children in Southeast Michigan who suffer from troubling illnesses and injuries. They raise funds through various events to cover the costs of treatment and care as well as all the equipment needed to administer the services. At this golf event, proceeds will go directly to the children and area families who need help through these traumatic times.

Currently, the Beaumont Children’s Hospital remains the sole facility of its kind in the area affiliated with the Children’s Miracle Network. What they do for these children may make the difference in their outcomes and recovery. Families receive support through this organization, including scholarships and other services.

So, how did actor Mark Wahlberg get involved in this golf event? Back in 2001, Mark and his brother Jim established their charity, the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, to support inner city kids and guide them to brighter futures.

As kids in the Boston area, the brothers and their other siblings—nine in total—participated in the local chapter of Boys and Girls Club of America. They consider themselves lifelong members and cite the club as instrumental in their future success. They decided to give back in their own way through their charitable organization.

While they raise money for enrichment programs and other services for kids, they pair up with other like-minded organizations to do even more. On their own, they’ve raised and distributed more than 10 million dollars to charitable causes supporting children.
