Brake Pad Replacement

Brake pad replacement is better done before it needs doing than afterward. There is a small wire inside your brake pad which will rub against the rotor once the brake pad has worn down beyond its useful life, The screech and squeal of that wire will make driving intolerable, but you don't have to let the situation get so bad as to become a miserable driver. An authorized technician can conduct routine maintenance on your car and replace brakes at an appropriate time before they become a nuisance or safety concern.

Brake Fluid Exchange

When brake pads wear down, brake fluid levels drop to fill the gap. Fluid levels are often topped off to assure continued performance. When new pads are installed, the process pushes and spills excess fluids, so the fluids need to be safely drained into a safe oil bin for recycling and then refilled. The process is intended by design, as brake fluids aren't in a contained system and garner debris, condensation, or other pollutants during the regular use of daily driving, and need to be drained, flushed, and refilled occasionally.

Rotor Resurfacing or Replacement

Another brake system maintenance project which is often overlooked or forgotten is the proper maintenance of the rotors. They don't need regular maintenance as often as brake pads or brake fluids, but they do eventually need to be cared for. Some rotors can be ground down, others are too thin for such a process and require replacement. Unfortunately, there is no simple “catch-all, be-all” answer. The issue is something an authorized technician needs to evaluate and decide what is best for the vehicle in terms of how to make the car owner happy with safety, handling, performance, and efficiency when driving the car daily.
