WHAT DO THE SPARK PLUGS DO?

There is a specific spark plug for each car, and they have to be carefully set to run well. It ignites the gas and that makes your engine run, but your car needs the right plugs, those designed for your car, in order to perform at its best. The electrode at the end of the plug will wear out eventually, and that is when they need to be replaced. Spark plugs do not wear out quickly, but there are signs, like having a hard time starting your car or the check engine light is on. Reduced fuel economy and rough running are also signs that you need a tuneup and new plugs. If you let your car engine go not maintained the plugs will wear out. This will make the car run rough. It may misfire. It will affect your gas mileage in a negative way and it will progressively get harder to start. Eventually, this will cause engine damage, and a ruined engine gets into the thousands of dollars to replace. High-speed driving can also shorten the life of spark plugs. If you drive in extreme conditions of any kind it is a good idea to get them replaced sooner than later.
