We all get by with a little help from time to time. The FACES Foundation is dedicated to helping those in the pulmonary profession as well as those dealing with diseases associated with the lungs. The Face of FACES: Where It All Got Started

Philip C. Lamka was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), a “broad category of lung diseases characterized by scarring and/or inflammation of the lungs.” For three years, Phil fought this disease with the help of his loving wife, Sharman, and a dedicated team of caregivers.

To memorialize her husband after life and give hope to families with loved ones living with pulmonary diseases, Sharman founded the FACES (Family And Caregiver Education & Support) Foundation. They strive to support these families as well as the hardworking pulmonary professionals that make every breath matter.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the FACES Foundation focuses on creating a network of support and resources for those facing the effects of serious lung disease. In order to provide these resources, The FACES Foundation raises funds through various events throughout the year.

Their most outstanding annual fundraiser—the Philip C. Lamka Golf Outing & Silent Auction—invites golfers of all skill levels to enjoy a round of golf. It not only raises funds for those in need, but also immortalizes Philip as this was one of his favorite pastimes.

Another outstanding program offered by the foundation is The PHIL Award, “the only nationally recognized hospital-based recognition program dedicated to honoring outstanding respiratory therapists.” The foundation seeks out those who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of their patients. Additionally, the foundation supports them in their pursuit to better themselves.
