The Western Oakland Meals on Wheels Mission & Story

Western Oakland Meals on Wheels is part of the larger Meals on Wheels 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded as a Senior Nutrition Program. For more than 60 years, this organization has been providing home-bound seniors with nutritious, balanced meals delivered right to their home.

This organization is on a mission to cater to seniors over the age of 60 who cannot shop or prepare meals for themselves because of disabilities, illnesses, post-op surgery, and/or advanced age. To ensure that they stay nourished and healthy, the Meals on Wheels staff and volunteers prepare, package, and deliver each meal themselves.

Western Oakland Meals on Wheels provides hot meals to more than 600 seniors everyday Monday through Friday as well as frozen meals for over the weekend.

Western Oakland Meals on Wheels heavily relies on volunteers to keep the program running smoothly. You can donate to the cause by volunteering to help prepare and package the hundreds of meals they offer.
